How To Care For Your Glasses

As eyewear lovers, we take shopping for glasses seriously. We spend a lot of time trying on eyewear frames, looking for the right shape and color and getting that perfect pair which fits us well, right? It only makes sense that we take care of them as well. Here are 6 easy steps that will help you make your glasses last as long as possible.

Place Your Glasses Properly

Never place your glasses with the lenses facing down, as this would scratch the lenses. Always place them with the lenses facing up or keep them upright.

Rinse & Wash Your Glasses Often

To ensure that your glasses stay in good condition, wash them at least once a day. This will keep your lenses clean and your eyes will not have to strain as much to see. Before wiping or cleaning your glasses, rinse them off with water. It is possible for even the tiniest particle of dust or dirt to settle on the lenses; and if you wipe dry lenses with those particles on them, it can be abrasive.

Spray Your Glasses Carefully

You might want to spray your glasses for optimal hygiene. In that case, use sprays that are made specifically for glass lenses. Never use household cleaners like soaps or detergents as these will damage the coating of the lenses.

Use the Right Cloth to Clean Glasses

Sometimes, when we are in a hurry, we tend to wipe our glasses with tissues, napkins or clothing. It is best to not do this as these usually have a textured surface which can easily scratch the lenses. With clothing also, unless they are 100% cotton, the fibers in the fabric can damage the lenses. And if there is dust on the fabric, that might also get stuck on your lenses.
